Housing is a human right and a basic requirement for the rest of life, yet we have an acute housing crisis where hundreds of thousands of young people in Sweden lack secure housing. This is a political problem - and one that can be changed. In jagvillhabostad.nu we fight together for that change and the more we are, the bigger difference we make. You are needed; become a housing activist!
We have several ways to get involved, depending on what suits you best. Every contribution makes a difference.
An easy first way to support our work is by becoming a supporting member. It is free, undemanding and takes one minute. You can also become active in our member network, in a local committee, in a local board or in our Federal Board. Most of the tasks do not require any prior knowledge - we will train and mentor you internally.
Being part of our member network means that you register your interest in being contacted for activities. This may involve contributing to events, political actions or spreading our messages on social media. In other words, you contribute with specific activities based on your conditions and interests, and you choose when you want to participate.
bopolakademin is a training series that equips you to independently run an association, review municipal housing policy and form opinions on the right of all young people to safe housing. The academy is offered every year and is aimed at those who are actively involved in one of our local branches.

Committees are groups of people actively involved in a specific area of activity in our local branches. For example, it could be a committee for advocacy, awareness-raising, lectures, practical help for young people looking for housing or events.

Housing is a human right enshrined in both the Swedish constitution and in international agreements that Sweden has adopted. Yet hundreds of thousands of young people today are without their own housing; for many it is impossible to compete in a market that requires unreasonably long waiting times, large capital or the right contacts. As a result, young people's lives and choices are severely limited.
In jagvillhabostad.nu we are therefore fighting for a fairer and more equal housing market with the goal that ALL young people should be able to live safely. We do this through political advocacy, support for young people and education.
As a board member of one of our local chapters, you are involved in implementing activities together with the rest of the board. The tasks are flexible and you plan together how you in the board distribute tasks based on interest and conditions.
Our local chapters function as independent associations with their own local boards. We currently have six local chapters, in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Uppsala, Umeå, Örebro and Malmö . And we always want to become more; feel free to contact us if you want to start a local chapter in a new place.
The mission is carried out on an ongoing basis during the 2023-2024 financial year. The location is decided in consultation with the rest of the Board, and can also be done digitally.
Expect to dedicate 6 hours/month to the mission. This includes one board meeting per month, time for planning and current activities linked to the mission. You are expected to undergo a mandatory basic training (6 hours in total) at the beginning of your assignment.
