FAST HOUSES is our response to the acute housing shortage for young people. The concept is based on mobile modular housing built on temporary building permits.
In cooperation with our members, the houses have been specially adapted to the needs of young people and the rental contracts are also earmarked for young people aged 18-30.
FAST HOUSES is about building homes on temporary building permits, but not just any homes! The houses are modular dwellings that can be dismantled and moved when the building permit runs out, but they have the same lifespan as a normal house. A temporary building permit usually lasts for fifteen years, but after three moves the homes become permanent.
The concept came about through a feasibility study in which jagvillhabostad.nu investigated whether it would be possible to build housing for young people on temporary building permits and thus shorten the planning and construction process.
Together with Svenska Bostäder, we developed and realized a first pilot project of SNABBA HUS in Västberga, Stockholm. Subsequently, more houses have been built in Västberga, Råcksta and Norra Ängby.

When we started the project more than 10 years ago, around half of the country's municipalities reported a shortage of housing for young people (Boverket). In 2022, 204 municipalities reported a housing shortage and 174 of 272 responding municipalities reported a shortage of housing for young people.
So the severe housing shortage for young people is still a fact. 200,000 young adults are involuntarily homeless, few have the waiting time required for a rental contract or the capital required to buy a home, new construction is often out of reach, and many are forced to live expensively and insecurely in sublets.

We are experts in dialogue with young people. On behalf of the client, we carry out inclusive dialogue processes or train actors who themselves wish to conduct dialogue with young people during project development. The assignment is tailored to the client's wishes. Initial training and SNABBA HUS certification are included.
Certification includes the following steps: initial training and guidance to ensure that the project meets defined FAST HOUSING criteria. Continuous review meetings, follow-up audit and evaluative site visits.
